About Steven

I believe that you can benefit from a coaching relationship where:

  • We both know what your goals are.
  • We’re using methods associated with getting there.
  • You’re being supported autonomously.

I got serious about sports in high school, but growing up my cousin Richard called me, “Cousin Pudgy”.

At The University of Missouri, I learned what a strength and conditioning program looked like for professional level athletes.

I learned a lot more about nutrition and how I could take better care of myself.

My body struggled to maintain the demands that a rigid approach requires at times. I was prodded to gain and lose weight. I’ve swung from 196 to 257 pounds and struggled with binge eating. I’ve also gone to physical therapy at least 8 times.

Training has been a source of strength and confidence for me and I like to see how it can help others trust and surprise themselves.

What Steven's clients say:

"I’m a 50-something health-conscious mom who needed the accountability of a trainer to both encourage and challenge me. Steven is an amazing motivator. I know he is always just a What’s App-away if I have a form question (or a licorice question!). I know I can count on him to listen to my questions and provide answers, links, videos and follow-up. Plenty of times I have thought about skipping a workout but I know Steven will be wondering how I did and if I am meeting my goals."

Worked with Coach Steven

Amanda’s full story

“Coach Steven Mack promptly reached out to me right after I submitted my interest form. First I thought I would just do a one-time consult, but after meeting with Steven, I knew I would benefit immensely by working with him regularly. Again he worked me into his busy schedule and took advantage of my high interest and motivation. I was stuck in a boring, body-weight rut of pushups, pullups and squats only. I told Steven I needed a more well-rounded routine that incorporated the dumbbells I had and the bodyweight exercises I was used to. Two days later I had a month-long workout programmed for me, tailored to exactly what I needed and what my goals were.

Steven has been coaching me remotely for almost two months now. In that time, thanks to his deep and vast knowledge of exercise science, I have steadily increased my weights and gained strength and confidence.

I’m a 50-something health-conscious mom who needed the accountability of a trainer to both encourage and challenge me. Steven is an amazing motivator. I know he is always just a What’s App-away if I have a form question (or a licorice question!). I know I can count on him to listen to my questions and provide answers, links, videos and follow-up. Plenty of times I have thought about skipping a workout but I know Steven will be wondering how I did and if I am meeting my goals.

Recently, I told Steven I am thoroughly enjoying my home workouts, but I want to lift heavier weights in the gym. Steven agreed and will now again help me crush my goals by combining home and gym programs to make sure I’m challenging myself, building bone density and getting stronger every workout.

I have worked with numerous trainers the past three decades, but Steven is the only one I know has my best interests in mind. He’s got it all: exercise physiology background, excellent interpersonal skills, and a successful methodology for staying on top of weekly goals and accomplishments. I am beyond grateful for his dedication to his profession and to me!

Thank you for pairing me with Coach Mack. I highly recommend him for anyone, but especially middle-aged men and women who want to stay strong and vibrant.”
